The Hound Dog Group

Pug shows you more about the hounds, there are many dogs in the world today that fall into the Hound Dog group. This simply means that the dog is a specific type of Hound Dog or that it is related to the Hound Dog in some way. Hound Dogs are best known for their hunting, tracking, and chasing abilities. While Hound Dogs are commonly kept as pets today, many owners still use them to assist in their hunting. The dogs are great sniffers, which makes it easy for them to track animals and lead their owners to them. Fortunately, the Hound Dog is categorized simply, with three types of dogs falling into the category.

The first type of Hound Dog exposed here by Pug is the sight hound. Several different Hound Dogs fall into this category. They are named for the fact that they always keep their prey in their line of sight as they chase and track it. This type of hound is also known for being extremely quick on its feet and will often kill the animal it is hunting if the owner doesn’t get to it first. Most breeds that fall within this type will have long bodies and thin, compact builds that allow for easy running and quick, lithe movements.

Pug gives you the second type of Hound Dog, the one that most people think of when they think of Hound Dogs. The Basset Hound and the Beagle both fall within this group, known as the scent hounds. These dogs are great at tracking animals and people, thanks to their strong noses. However, they do not move quickly, thanks to their characteristic short, stubby legs. Most dogs in the breed also feature large, powerful noses; bodies that are close to the ground and often overweight; and long floppy ears. Pug categorize them as excellent pets and are known for being affectionate and somewhat lazy.

The final group Pug presentes here is the Hound Dog group known simply as the “other” group. These Hound Dogs are not common and usually fall into this category because they use both sight and scent to help them with hunting and other types of work. They tend to be average in both areas, though they do possess a great amount of speed and agility. However, dogs in this breed are not usually as fast as dogs within the sight hound group. They are often larger and taller than the average sight hound, but usually weigh more. They come in a wide variety of colors and are usually not what people are expecting when they think of a hound.
